Description
The Brown Hoist bldg that was headquarters for Alexander E. Brown’s hoist manufacturing company that transformed iron ore handling on the Great Lakes is on the market! Dating back to 1880 and designated a Cleveland Landmark in 2017, it is still being used as an office building and has been maintained and restored on many levels. From 1901-1902 Architect J. Milton Dyer moved the 4-story office building to the present location, and wings were added. Possibly the oldest operating elevator in Ohio still serves the building. Maple and oak flooring, 14-foot ceilings, soaring windows, a conference room w/sandstone fireplace, a penthouse level plus an area made of vaulted rooms including an original library will keep you in awe of the history that was made within these walls. Recent upgrades include boiler, roof, internet/cameras, rebuilt elevator mechanics, air conditioned spaces (floors 1&3), and updated electrical. Fenced parking w/potential for 30+ cars, plus a loading area complete the offering.
